Our story…
Hello!
Thank you for wondering about the story of The Abbey Coffee, Art and Music Lounge, which opened in 2008 after Vintage Faith Church moved into the building at 350 Mission Street. The vision was to create a café in a uniquely designed space where neighbors, UCSC students, and others in Santa Cruz could hang out to chat, create, and study, with plenty of seating and no rush to leave.
With a personal background in music and bands, I know how important it is to have places to play and meet others interested in music, which is why we designed The Abbey with a stage. We are currently reestablishing our Open Mic Nights, Rhythm and Blues Jam Nights, and scheduling performances by various musical artists and bands.
We also believe in the importance of creativity and the arts and wanted to highlight local and student artists, create opportunities to share their creativity with others, and host art openings and events here. We are also in the planning process of hosting book clubs, lectures on various topics, and film nights with discussion in the future.

The Abbey café manager is Donny Cobb. If you have any questions about coffee, tea and/or anything menu-wise at The Abbey, please contact him at: donny@vintagechurch.org
We really hope The Abbey is a space and community you will enjoy and love spending time in. I personally hope to meet you and connect with the music and arts aspect of The Abbey, as well as any discussions on music history, rockabilly, vintage punk music, comic books, and theology.
